Baramulla blast leaves 1 dead, 30 wounded

One civilian was killed and 30 others, including to BSF men, were injured in a grenade explosion at Baramulla today. Elsewhere, four civilians, three SPOs, and three militants were among 10 people killed in separate incidents of violence across the state since yesterday.
Official sources said some unidentified person hurled a grenade towards some border security force personnel in the premises of the district hospital at Baramulla where they had come for some treatment. Missing the traget, it exploded in the premises resulting in on-the-spot death of a 68-year old civilian, Abdul Rahim Sofi of Arampora, and injuries to 34 others, including about a dozen women and two BSF men. The condition of five of those injured was stated to be critical.
Some of the injured were identified as Fareeda Begum w/o Manzoor Ahmad Sofi of Wagoora; Aisha Begum w/o Ghulam Hasan Mir of Khwajabagh; Muhammad Dilawar Mir s/o Khazir Muhammad of Rafiabad; Saleema w/o Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Wani of Sopore; Raja Begum w/o Ghulam Qadir Mir of Khwajabagh; Tariq Ahmad Sofi of Arampora and Sona Mali w/o Abdus Salam of Khushipora village in Rafiabad.
Unidentified gunmen barged into the house of 65-year old Muhammad Shafi at Tarj Budhal in Rajouri district last night and kidnapped him alongwith his 15-year old daughter, Zareena, and 22-year old son, Liaqat Ali. They were beheaded later. Their bodies were recovered near the town today. Shafi’s wife, 55-year old Barkat Bibi, who sustained injuries in the incident has been hospitalised. The gunmen managed their escape from the spot. Panic has gripped the entire area following the incident. Security forces have launched a manhunt to nab the killers. Police have registered a triple muder case.
Unidentified gunmen killed a special police officer at Poonch while a civilian injured in the shootout succumbed in the hospital. The headless body of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh s/o Abdul Gani of Qazigund was recovered from near Shopian today. He was an icecream seller and had been kidnapped sometime ago. Police have registered a case about it.
Three militants were killed in an encounter in a village near Rajouri today. However, their identity could not be ascertained immediately. In the neighbouring Surankot area of Poonch district, unidentified gunmen shot dead an SPO, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah s/o Zaman Shah, at his home. The SOG today claimed having killed a foreign militant, Abu Mu’aaz, in an encounter in Doda district while an SPO was killed in a village in Bhadarwah area of the district.
